We’ve lived the deadlines, design reviews, long meetings, changing scopes, and years it can take to bring a project to life. We know how much goes into the work, and how much of that can be missed from the outside.
That experience shapes how we work today.
HAPS Agency is a family-run agency founded by Michael and Rhoda Todoran.
Michael and Rhoda first met in the late 1980s. Life took them in different directions for many years before eventually bringing them back together. Today, they are building HAPS together, with their son becoming part of the business too.
Michael spent more than a decade working in landscape architecture before expanding into photography, filmmaking, publishing, public relations, and marketing. That experience gives him an unusual understanding of both the work itself and what it takes to communicate it well.
Rhoda’s path has been equally varied, spanning programming, digital production, nonprofit leadership, international work, branding, marketing, strategy, and project management. She brings a strong instinct for people, communication, organization, and turning ideas into action.
Together, they started HAPS Agency with a simple idea: the people behind good work deserve to be understood, seen, and valued.
We believe in storytelling that honors the people behind the projects.
Good communication starts with understanding the people and thinking behind the work. AEC projects are complex, collaborative, and often years in the making, so we take the time to understand what matters before shaping the words, images, and strategy around it.
We don’t do hype. We don’t chase trends. We believe in strategic communications rooted in empathy, clarity, and long-term value. Your work is bigger than this year’s awards or the next headline. It is part of a much longer story.
We bring a humanist approach to strategic communications. Here’s how that shows up in our work:
We start with relationships, not angles. We listen closely, learn your voice, your history, and your goals, then build communication that feels true to the firm.
The strongest stories come from knowing the project. We look closely at the design, process, people, and decisions before deciding how it should be communicated.
Every pitch, campaign, photograph, and piece of content should serve a larger goal. We begin with where you want to go, then choose the tools that can help get you there.
Strong work can be overlooked when its value is difficult to see from the outside. We help make that value clear to clients, peers, editors, and the public.
Tell us about your firm, your project, or what you are trying to build next.
We’d like to hear about it.
